Morning Briefing – 6:30 AM
The summer sun hasn’t yet peaked over the horizon when I arrive at Turner & Schoel’s headquarters. The morning air is deceivingly cool, but we all know what’s coming – another scorching Alabama day. After checking my daily service schedule, I load up the service van with the necessary parts and tools.
First Call – 8:00 AM
My first stop is in Northport, where a family’s AC unit decided to quit during the weekend. When temperatures climb into the 90s, every minute without cooling feels like an eternity for our customers. The diagnosis reveals a failed capacitor – a common issue during peak cooling season.
Midday Rush – 12:30 PM
Between service calls in Tuscaloosa and Cottondale, I’ve already:
– Performed two seasonal maintenance checks
– Replaced a worn-out condensate pump
– Diagnosed a refrigerant leak
The afternoon heat is intense, and working in attics and crawl spaces makes you appreciate functional air conditioning even more.
Afternoon Emergency – 3:15 PM
An urgent call comes in from Samantha – an elderly resident’s system has completely shut down. These are the calls that remind me why I chose this profession. Ensuring our community stays comfortable and safe is more than just a job.
End of Day – 6:00 PM
Back at the shop, I complete my service reports and prep for tomorrow. Having helped restore comfort to several homes across our service area, I’m reminded that every day brings new challenges and opportunities to serve our community.
Working in HVAC means adapting to whatever each day brings, whether it’s routine maintenance or emergency repairs. At Turner & Schoel, we’re committed to keeping Alabama comfortable, one home at a time.
